Alan Van Boven is an executive leader in Supply Chain Management  technology solutions for freight transportation. He coaches both emergent & established technology enterprises in design of business, marketing & product strategies for successful growth in the SCM marketplace. He also advises manufacturers, distributors and Logistics Service Providers in their solution architectures for transportation management, including the selection, implementation and performance management of best fit vendors.  

Mr. Van Boven is an accomplished technology industry executive with leadership in business strategy creation and its execution, product strategy & marketing, business development, technology innovation, organization development, business turnaround and M&A integration. He has a successful track record in project management of complex mission critical projects. Alan’s focus in the last 10 years has been the emergence and development of the Transportation Management Systems (TMS) marketplace emphasizing the cost reductions and resultant rapid ROI enabled by applied technology in today’s complex freight transport environments. He has a keen interest  and expertise in carbon management in the transport industry where substantial economic and CSR benefits can be realized via technology enabled innovation in optimization & collaboration business processes.

  Prior to joining Supply Chain Visions, Van Boven was the VP, Transportation Management Solutions, responsible for strategy and overall solution architecture for the transportation management product portfolio for Infor, a $2.3 billion enterprise software applications company. Mr. Van Boven served as the CEO of ShipLogix, acquired by Infor in 2007, responsible for market & product strategy, business & organization development and financing. Previously, he was the CEO of nPassage, an early innovator of multi-tenant, web-hosted TMS, which merged with ShipLogix in 2001.

 Before he chose to concentrate in logistics technology, Alan managed the design & delivery of fraud detection, network mediation, billing systems and advanced intelligence processing systems for US Government agencies and wireless service providers.

Alan serves on the Advisory Board for the University of Washington’s Global Trade, Transportation and Logistics (GTTL) graduate certificate program where he also lectures on logistics economics & technologies. With a passionate interest in third world developing economies, Mr. Van Boven currently serves as a judge and mentor in UW’s annual Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition (GSEC).

Mr. Van Boven received his BS in Mathematics from the University of Washington in 1978 with graduate studies in computer engineering and corporate finance.
